Nose measurement
Nasal Projection (Goode)
Goode’s ratio: how far the tip projects from the alar crease (perpendicular to the nasion–alar-crease line) relative to the length of the nose. Lower values mean an under-projected tip, higher values an over-projected one.

How it is measured
Distance of Prn from the N–Ac line ÷ |N–Prn|
- N Nasion — The deepest point of the dip between the forehead and the bridge of the nose.
- Ac Alar crease — The deepest point of the groove where the nostril wing (ala) meets the cheek.
- Prn Pronasale (nose tip) — The most forward point of the nasal tip.
Ideal range and tiers
Each value falls into a tier (T1 = ideal). Comfortably inside T1 the rating is 10, easing to 9.5 at the edges of the ideal range; beyond it the rating falls with the deviation — fastest in the first tiers outside the ideal — down to 0 at the far end of the worst tier.
| Tier | Range | Rating |
|---|---|---|
| T1 Ideal | 0.55–0.60 | 9.5–10 |
| T2 Near ideal | 0.50–0.55 or 0.60–0.65 | 5.8–9.5 |
| T3 Moderate deviation | 0.45–0.50 or 0.65–0.70 | 2.8–5.8 |
| T4 Significant deviation | < 0.45 or > 0.70 | 0–2.8 |
